Ways to Get Tracks into rekordbox and Serato (Official)
There are four main routes, organized from the official rekordbox manual (7.2.18) and related pages.
- A. Save as files, then load (purchased or downloaded tracks on your computer, USB or cloud)
- B. Add to the Music (iTunes) app, then load
- C. From the cloud or another device (Cloud Library Sync, Mobile Library Sync)
- D. From streaming (Beatport, Apple Music, Spotify and more)
rekordbox (Mac/Windows)
A. Loading files
- Drag and drop: click [Collection] in [Media Browser] and drag files or folders from Finder or Explorer onto the track list.
- From the menu: [File] > [Import] > [Import Track] (file) or [Import Folder].
- Explorer: select a folder in [Explorer] under [Media Browser] and drag tracks to [Collection] in the sub-browser. Computer folders and USB storage folders both work. If it is hidden, enable it in [Preferences] > [View] > [Layout].
- Playlist files: [File] > [Import] > [Import Playlist]. M3U, M3U8 and PLS are supported, and the tracks in the playlist are added to the Collection.
- Inflyte (promo service): enable [Inflyte] in Preferences, log in and download from [Promo Locker].
- Loadable formats: MP3, AAC (.m4a/.mp4), WAV, AIFF, Apple Lossless (.m4a) and FLAC. Copy-protected files may not load or play.

B. Via the Music (iTunes) app
- Apple Music app: in Music choose [File] > [Library] > [Export Library...] and save the XML. In rekordbox open [Preferences] > [Advanced] > [Database] > [iTunes], click [Browse] for [iTunes Library File] and pick the XML.
- Then: from [iTunes] > [All Audio] in [Media Browser], drag tracks to [Collection] in the sub-browser. If [iTunes] is hidden, enable it in [Preferences] > [View] > [Layout].
- iTunes itself (support ended on macOS Catalina and later): in iTunes [Advanced Preferences] tick "Share iTunes Library XML with other applications".

Other file route
- rekordbox.xml: enable [rekordbox.xml] in Preferences, set [Imported Library], then drag tracks to [Collection].
C. From the cloud or another device
- Cloud Library Sync: uses Dropbox or Google Drive. The desktop app must be signed in to the same account as rekordbox. Free plans sync only a few tracks, and full-library sync needs a supported plan (the track count differs between official pages, so check the latest FAQ).
- Mobile Library Sync: put the computer and phone on the same Wi-Fi, tap the connect-to-rekordbox (Mac/Win) option on the phone, click [SEARCH MOBILE] on the computer, then right-click a track and choose Mobile Library Sync.
- A grayed-out track means the file has not reached this device. Transfer it, or upload it to the cloud from the device that has it.
- Choosing [Move] when uploading removes the track from its original folder, which can break playback in the iTunes/Apple Music app. Choose [Copy] to keep it.

D. From streaming
- Click the service icon in Media Browser, choose [Log in] and sign in via the browser (PERFORMANCE mode; Beatport, TIDAL and Apple Music also work in EXPORT mode).
- Right-click a track and choose [Import to Collection]. The track is downloaded and added, one at a time.
- Click the title or artwork to preview before importing.
- For limits such as USB EXPORT, recording and backup, see streaming vs buying.

rekordbox (iOS/Android)
- From the phone or external storage: choose [File] on the library selection screen (rekordbox for iOS/Android 4.4.0 or later).
- From the computer: Mobile Library Sync over the same Wi-Fi.
- From the cloud: upload on one device, then choose Download from Cloud on the other. Cloud Library Sync works with Dropbox and also Google Drive (Creative, Professional or Cloud Option plans).
- Apple Music playlists: not browsable directly on the phone. On the desktop, right-click the playlist under [iTunes], choose [Import Playlist], sync over Wi-Fi, then transfer tracks with Mobile Library Sync.
- Exporting from iOS/Android to USB is not supported.

Serato DJ
- From the Files panel: open it with the [Files] button and drag tracks or folders to the [All] icon. Dragging a folder adds all supported files in it.
- You can also drag from Finder or Explorer into the library.
- Loading a track to a deck from the Files panel adds it to the library automatically.
- Dragging a folder into the crate view creates a crate immediately.
- iTunes/Music library: tick [Show iTunes library] in the [Library + Display] tab of Setup (macOS Catalina and later needs a separate Music app setting). DJ Lite on Windows does not support reading the Apple Music app library.
- Files are not copied; the library refers to the original location. If you move them they show as missing.
- Supported: MP3, OGG, ALAC (Mac and Windows 10 only), FLAC, AIF, WAV, M4A, MP4, AAC (Mac only) and more. DRM-protected files do not work.

Before you import
- Moving folders causes missing tracks. See finding missing tracks, organizing and backup and migration.
- USB export: here.
- If it fails: streaming tracks missing / recording disabled / cannot export to USB
Key points
- Files go in by drag and drop or [File] > [Import].
- Via the Music app: export the library XML and point rekordbox to it.
- Cloud, phone and streaming each have their own steps and limits.
