Can djay and rekordbox use Spotify or Apple Music? Support and limits

Before troubleshooting a "song is in my streaming app but not in my DJ software" or a disabled record button, first check what your software, device and plan actually support. Support changes, so confirm on the official pages.

djay (per the official help page)

• Apple Music: supported on iOS, macOS, visionOS, Android and Windows. Tracks always stream live.
• Spotify: requires Spotify Premium. Supported on iOS, macOS, Windows and Android.
• TIDAL, SoundCloud, Beatport: each needs a specific subscription plan.
• Beatsource: not a separate integration; it is being merged into and migrated to Beatport.

What does not work (per djay)

• Neural Mix stem separation is not available for Apple Music or Spotify tracks.
• Mix recording is disabled while a streaming service is in use.
• Saving songs for offline use inside the Apple Music or Spotify app does not make them playable offline in djay. In djay, only Beatport (higher plans) supports offline storage.

rekordbox and Spotify (official announcement)

• The rekordbox site states that rekordbox for iOS/Android added Spotify support in December 2025. The announcement title also indicates rekordbox for Mac/Windows is supported.
• A paid Spotify subscription is required, and available plans vary by country or region.
• An internet connection is needed to play. The announcement does not mention offline playback, recording or USB export, so do not assume they work.
• It works on a phone or tablet alone, or with the DDJ-FLX2, DDJ-FLX4 or DDJ-GRV6.

Order of checks

1. Confirm on the official page that your software, OS and device support the service.
2. Confirm your plan meets the requirement (for example Premium).
3. Treat recording, stem separation, USB export and offline playback as possibly unavailable per service; check the feature you need first.
4. For a gig, consider preparing purchased or downloaded files instead of relying on streaming.
