Turntable: very quiet audio or heavy distortion
These are general checks, not model-specific compatibility certification. Start at low volume and change one setting at a time.
Check in order
- Identify PHONO output versus a built-in-preamp LINE output from the model manual and switch.
- Use a suitable PHONO input/preamp for PHONO output; do not amplify LINE again through PHONO.
- Check mixer selector, L/R and documented ground; do not compensate for a mismatch by maximizing every gain.
- Test ordinary records separately from timecode and verify sensitivity before buying adapters.
- If unresolved, record models, OS/app versions, OUT-to-IN routing, the last responding meter and comparison results in the support note.
Very quiet or distorted audio
- Start with output level and PHONO/LINE matching.
Skipping, hum or intermittent contact
- At low level compare stopped/playback states and separate mechanical from wiring checks.
If unresolved
Record hardware models, OS/app versions, the last responding meter and test outcomes for official support. Do not infer hardware failure or a purchase requirement from unverified checks.
